Description

This piece was inspired by my time living on Haida Gwaii, it’s massive Bald Eagle population was a sight to behold at times. We watched mass gatherings of these powerful birds along sections of the beaches, foraging, socializing, and playing in their element. The islands were often saturated with a heavy mist that lent itself to the mystique of the Bald Eagle. When I think of the eagle, this setting is what immediately comes to mind. Eagle soaring through “Misty Isles” at low tide and the bull kelp draped over the integration of sand and rocky shoreline. The ghosted contemporary design of the eagle, was intended to filter through the mist in the tree line as though it were the captured imprint of it’s flight.
